  • Implement a continuous and stable process to produce, stage and invite theatre, dance and musical theatre performances of high artistic quality, making use of directly managed theatre spaces;
  • perpetuate, disseminate and promote, both nationally and internationally, Italian “teatro d’arte”, from classical repertory to contemporary drama;
  • programme foreign author and foreign language performances with the purpose of fostering a European identity among audiences and especially among the younger generation;
  • act as a forum in which intellectuals, artists, directors, authors, actors, technical specialists and craftsmen can meet, discuss and exchange ideas and experiences so as to reaffirm, not only the cultural, but also the key social and civil role of the theatre;
  • contribute to enhancing the attractiveness and competitiveness of the region by participating in its internationalisation process and by interacting with its tourism and cultural industries;
  • promote the image of Torino and Piemonte by exporting its stage productions throughout the Country and abroad;
  • improve the quality of life of the resident population, provide cultural education for the public, deliver intelligent and affordable entertainment to all user groups;
  • guarantee qualified employment to artists and technical staff;
  • adopt innovative processes to support business incubators, the creativity of emerging talents, experimental stage design activities, multidisciplinarity and a diversified offering;
  • develop professional, artistic and technical training activities, through its training agency which is accredited and funded by the ESF;
  • adopt a structural approach in performing documentation, archiving and scientific research functions, collaborating with Universities, and within the activities of the Centro Studi (Research Department), recognised as a Research Institute by a DPCM (Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers);
  • adopt innovative approaches and new communication technologies to produce and disseminate editorial, educational and promotional material regarding institutional activities;
  • engage in dialogue and collaborative ventures with independent regional entities with a view to developing local talent and contributing to the organic growth of the Sistema Teatro Torino (Torino Theatre System);
  • integrate design and production activities with other relevant cultural institutions – at the City, national and international level – to foster the competitiveness of the theatre’s offering and the circulation of its projects;
  • conserve and enhance the Teatro Carignano and the Teatro Gobetti, two buildings of considerable historical and architectural prestige.
