From the big screen to the stage: Elio Petri’s film (1971) is a grotesque portrayal of factory shopfloors and workers’ struggles in Italy: a free reinterpretation showing how, both in the past and in the present, work is a form of dignity that many individuals cannot enjoy. Claudio Longhi directs Lino Guanciale, in the famous role played by Gian Maria Volontè, and Franca Penone in the role formerly played by Salvo Randone.
