However, this is his first directorial venture with a piece by Chekhov, the first of a trilogy dedicated to the great playwright. The play is a drama about failed illusions and reflects the existential malaise of humanity at the turn of the century, poised between art and life, on the brink of some of the great 20th-century tragedies.
