Ascanio Celestini’s magnetic narrative talent, set to Gianluca Casadei’s music, combines to tell the story of Saint Francis: from his birth in France to his passion for chivalric literature, from war to prison, from bricklayer to saint rebuilding God’s Church on Earth. However, the purpose of this account is by no means hagiographic but acts as the beginning of a reflection that speaks to our present. But how is it that Francis still appeals to us after eight centuries? Where would we find him today? In the company of tramps soliciting in a supermarket car park, or Africans handling boxes in some huge logistics warehouse?<\/p>\n
