Two aging vaudeville actors, who parted ways after a long career together due to irreconcilable differences, are invited to reunite for a one-night-only television special dedicated to the history of the glorious American variety show tradition. However, old conflicts quickly resurface, setting in motion a theatrical mechanism of brilliant comedy and profound melancholy. Inspired by the lives of a famous vaudeville duo, Joe Smith and Charles Dale, Simon\u2019s The Sunshine Boys premiered on Broadway in 1972.
