A Loose Interpretation of a Dialogue Between Gazes<\/strong><\/p>\n Liv Ferracchiati, author, director, and associate artist of the Teatro Stabile di Torino, has drawn inspiration from Mann\u2018s celebrated novel for this new production. A camera on a tripod and a writer who dies on a beach: the show is not a stage adaptation of Death in Venice, but a scenic journey loosely inspired by the novel combining three languages: word, dance, and video. The production removes the themes of homoeroticism and age difference, focusing instead on the meeting in Venice between Gustav von Aschenbach and Tadzio: what remains is death. The aim is to bring the characters closer to the audience and to explore the hard work of writing, showing how encounters with other human beings can bring rare, beautiful, and terrible moments. The third character is ironically the Word, which at first strives for formal harmony, then ignites and becomes hollow when confronted with the unspeakable.
