The play, written shortly before the Russian Revolution, portrays significant social change and the liberation of serfs from wealthy landowners. It also poignantly examines the bourgeoisie&#8217;s struggle to adapt to the ever-changing present. The cast, including Giordano Agrusta, Maurizio Cardillo, Ilaria Falini, Christian La Rosa, Angela Malfitano, Francesca Mazza, Orietta Notari, Tino Rossi, Massimiliano Speziani, and Giuliana Vigogna, conveyd themes of love and its absence, childhood memories and nostalgia, lost illusions, and existential angst. The characters in this play are the guests of a large decaying dacha, caught in the inertia of the Russian provinces, immersed in boredom and agonising over their failures. Their immobility is merely an illusion and lends even more force to the brash mirror that reflects our weaknesses.
