This paradoxical premise is the starting point for Niccol\u00f2 Fettarappa\u2019s comedy, set in a grotesque and unsettling near future. As the European Union announces the end of desire, Italy is invaded by bears with uncontrollable sexual appetites. Against this backdrop, a couple in crisis drifts through the inertia of empty, listless afternoons, reading newspapers and exercising in the living room. Meanwhile, a journalist and a government-appointed zoologist shed light on the mystery of the bears. The collapse of desire becomes a way of examining a society caught between the urge to consume and the difficulty of connecting with others.
