For Binasco, however, Goldoni is more than a master of comedy: he is an acute observer of human nature, capable of revealing, beneath the laughter, the truth of relationships, their hypocrisies and small, everyday deceptions. The director and Artistic Director of Teatro Stabile di Torino finds a striking modernity in Goldoni: humour always springs from vulnerability, from a \u201cpathology\u201d of living, and this is precisely why it still speaks to us today. Arlecchino, Lelio and Anzoletto are both comic masks and human beings, vivid expressions of a humanity that never truly changes.
