Since 1974, the Centro Studi del Teatro Stabile di Torino (TST Study Centre) has focused on collecting and preserving playbills, posters, reviews, photographs, printed leaflets and programmes, scripts, sketches and costume designs, video recordings and director’s notes. Not only does the Centre, as a museum and institutional archive, preserve, collect and organise its holdings, but it also systematically updates and implements these documents on an ongoing basis, using both traditional and digital media.
.

Its primary mission is to develop and maintain a valuable public service. On weekdays the Centro Studi provides students, teachers, theatres, subscribers and all theatre followers an impressive legacy of historical documentation and texts, with a library of over 30,000 volumes and a vast archive of 20th-century performances. The Study Centre owes its uniqueness to ”Il Dramma” (1925-1973), the landmark magazine founded and edited by Lucio Ridenti in Turin. The Centre was established following his death in 1973. In 2015, to mark the 60th anniversary of the Teatro Stabile di Torino, all the documentation related to the history of the Teatro Stabile di Torino, from its foundation (1955) to the present day, was digitised and published on the web, covering a total of 677 performances and 300,000 pages of archival material. In addition to the pages of the Stabile’s historical archive, the Centre also includes the 70,000 pages of the entire collection of the ”Il Dramma” magazine together with the ”Linea Teatrale” (1980-1994) magazine, founded by Gian Renzo Morteo. All this material is available from the online archive. The online archive platform provides an integrated search tool to query all library and archival resources.
