“It’s a ‘small great book’ that hits you straight in the heart,” writes Serena Sinigaglia, who turns to Letizia Russo’s dramaturgy to bring Storia di Argo by Mariagrazia Ciani to the stage. Ciani—who as a child experienced the exodus from Pola after World War II—tells with tenderness the pain of separation from her dog York, a symbol of home and loyalty. Director Sinigaglia translates this memory—performed by Ariella Reggio, Maria Ariis, and Lucia Limonta—into an intergenerational encounter: a grandmother, a mother, and a daughter reflect on that story, embarking on an emotional journey that blends family memory with collective history.
