In the collective imagination, Judas Iscariot is the ultimate traitor. Yet today, his story appears far more complex and nuanced than such a simple label suggests. Writer and director Leonardo Petrillo retraces the key moments of the apostle’s life—portrayed by Ettore Bassi—from his first encounter with Jesus to the tragic end, offering us a different, multifaceted portrait: a man marginalized for centuries, who rebels against collective consciousness and returns to tell us that his condemnation is not eternal. It will end when pride, greed, and vanity—the roots of evil—are eradicated, and humanity is no longer imprisoned by prejudice.
