After the stunning seasons of Mistero buffo, Matthias Martelli, an extraordinary artist who has revitalised the Commedia dell’Arte tradition, takes on Dante Alighieri, under the direction of Emiliano Bronzino, and with the historical support of Professor Alessandro Barbero, a highly popular historian.

Matthias Martelli, and his personal “jester” theatre, is the ideal performer to bring new generations closer to the discovery of Dante’s works. The show describes Dante’s life, from his childhood till his exile, from his political effort till the discover of love, weaving the events of his existence with the sublime verses of the Vita Nova and the Divine Comedy. The play shows the human being of the poet who embodied Italy: a fragile and complex man, with hopes and conflicts, who was able to make his personal events eternal and to sublimate his poetic vision in the raw and grotesque verses of Hell or in the lofty heights of Paradise.
