This new version of Chekhov’s play homes in on the hopes of its protagonists who are immersed in a game based on glances and intentions, where nothing is right and everything is permitted: Amira Casar (from the cast of Luca Guadagnino’s most recent film) and Celine Sallette (Les Revenants) are the main characters in this mirage about a return to Moscow, the lost paradise that holds the promise of a life of ease, a job and, perhaps a lifelong lover and partner, dreams that fade away into the mediocrity of the present. Directed by Simon Stone, the enfant terrible of international theatre.
