The spare and elegant language of Irish author Colm Tóibín’s novel brings to life and actualises the epic characters of the House of Atreus, endowing each character with highly contemporary motivations, psychological traits and nuances. Here, we find a necessary process of humanisation and the irreversible consequence of a lost divine horizon. Hence, Clytemnestra remains the rancorous queen of the myth. She is also a woman grappling with her own complex and contemporary approach to handling her power, making her a more multifaceted, mature and fascinating character. Roberto Andò has called on Isabella Ragonese’s talent for the leading role. The rest of the cast includes Ivan Alovisio, Arianna Becheroni, Denis Fasolo, Katia Gargano, Federico Lima Roque, Cristina Parku and Anita Serafini.
