The physical theatre of the Belgian ensemble Compañía Chaliwaté, influenced by contemporary circus, will amaze audiences and has been acclaimed by major European theatres and festivals. Between dreamlike fiction and factual reality, Dimanche paints a penetrating portrait of humanity taken unawares by the overwhelming force of nature. A family is about to spend their Sunday together, but their walls are quaking, strong winds and torrential rain rage outside, and the storm has just started. Meanwhile, with their little equipment, three nature documentarists are filming the last living species on Earth: three wild animals on the brink of extinction. The play derides the resourcefulness and stubbornness of human beings who seek to defend their daily routine, going to absurd extremes despite the mayhem of ecological breakdown.
