Following last season’s great success, the adaptation of the book by Elvio Fassone, a former magistrate and member of the CSM, returns to the Gobetti Theatre. Directed by Simone Schinocca and starring Salvatore D’Onofrio, Costanza Maria Frola and Giuseppe Nitti, the play chronicles the thirty-year correspondence between a man serving a life sentence and his judge: two lives that are utterly different and seemingly irreconcilable. Yet, letter after letter, they succeed in finding a meeting point. This touching play raises the issue of the constitutional provision that each sentence must have a rehabilitative value with that of reconciling life imprisonment and a society’s need to guarantee security to its citizens.
