Leonardo Lidi has made a name for himself on the Italian theatre scene with forceful and original versions of some of the great classical authors: Ibsen, Lorca, D’Annunzio, and Molière. However, this is his first directorial venture with a piece by Chekhov, the first of a trilogy dedicated to the great playwright. The play is a drama about failed illusions and reflects the existential malaise of humanity at the turn of the century, poised between art and life, on the brink of some of the great 20th-century tragedies. The cast includes Giordano Agrusta, Maurizio Cardillo, Ilaria Falini, Christian La Rosa, Angela Malfitano, Francesca Mazza, Orietta Notari, Tino Rossi, Massimiliano Speziani, and Giuliana Vigogna.
