A bomb exploded at the Banca dell’Agricoltura in Piazza Fontana in Milan at 4.37 pm on December 12 1969, killing seventeen people and injuring eighty-eight. There were attempts to place the blame on anarchist groups, and, in the wake of the first arrests, Giuseppe Pinelli died on December 15th, when he fell from the window of an office on the fourth floor of the Milan Police Headquarters. Together, Laura Curino and Renato Sarti revisit the events in this play, chronicling the subversive right-wing’s attempt to overthrow democracy while at the same time paying a rightful tribute to the oft-forgotten tragedy of the victims and their families.
