The director of the Odéon in Paris and one of today’s leading theatre directors, Stéphane Braunschweig, deepens his connection with Pirandello’s work. For his first direction at the Teatro Stabile di Torino, after his international acclaim with Dressing the Nude, Six Characters in Search of an Author, The Giants of the Mountain and As You Desire Me, he has chosen the Sicilian Nobel Prize winner’s most heart-rending play, written for Duse in 1923 and addressing the issues of motherhood and mourning. Pirandello challenges our certainties and our preconceptions. Despite knowing that reality will eventually shatter our illusions, he shows us how much we need illusions to stay alive. The cast includes Daria Deflorian, Federica Fracassi, Enrica Origo, Cecilia Bertozzi and Caterina Tieghi.
