To mark Holocaust Memorial Day, the TST Actors’ School students are staging The Investigation. The play is an ideal generational passing of the torch that commemorates the tragedy of the Holocaust through the power of a chorus of youthful voices. Peter Weiss wrote the play after attending the historic trial against a group of SS members and officials of the Auschwitz concentration camp. Close to 500 witnesses were heard during the trial, 248 of whom were chosen from the 1500 survivors. The trial was the first genuine attempt on the part of the Federal Republic of Germany to address the question of individual responsibility for the genocide, intending to attribute it to perpetrators of all levels who had been working inside the camp.
