Teatro Stabile dell’Umbria, Teatro Stabile di Torino – Teatro Nazionale Spoleto Festival dei Due Mondi Leonardo Lidi, an associate artist of the Teatro Stabile di Torino, furthers his research into Chekhov’s theatre, taking on another of the Russian master’s great classics with a large cast of performers that includes Giordano Agrusta, Maurizio Cardillo, Ilaria Falini, Angela Malfitano, Francesca Mazza, Mario Pirrello, Tino Rossi, Massimiliano Speziani and Giuliana Vigogna. Uncle Vanja is the story of a family defeated by its ghosts. It is the tragedy of missed opportunities, renunciations and regrets: a family drama that almost seems to be built on inertia. Yet the seeming stasis lends even more strength to this irreverent portrayal of our human weaknesses. The play is the second part of the Chekhov Project.
